Solar Eclipse, Magic Kingdom and New Adventures with Family
So THIS is what was waiting outside my front window upon our return from my family's Solar Eclipse/Disney/Universal trip. A Sunflower from a seed that decided many months ago to take root in my newly laid pine mulch. A beautiful gift and a reminder that life can begin anywhere. My Mom, Sister, and Myself recently explored through the World of Disney and Universal Studios, something we haven't done for many years. I'm sure it is the first in many new adventures to come. When Dad passed away in February, Mom was adamant about our coming together for a family vacation, an activity on hold due to the many years of Dad's health. So follow along below to view the visual story of our trip. I decided to get super artsy with the photographs so they might take you a second to absorb the scenery. And also be sure to check out my Weekly Insight no.1 as well as this weeks food story adventure Smooth Protein Shake with Alkalizing Greens for an even deeper account of our journey:)
We started with Disney World. No brainer of course. It also happened to be the day of the Solar Eclipse. We weren't sure if the clouds would give way to this spectacular event but 30 minutes after it started we were gifted with it's magic. Quite fitting as we were standing in Liberty Square during the afternoon Disney parade, sharing our Eclipse glasses with people from all over the world. Seeing their faces light up at the realization of what they were actually seeing was an amazing gift. It felt meant to be and I'll never forget the jolt of energy that pushed through upon the first view. Entirely an emotional experience.
Ok, now let's talk rides. This vacation introduced me to all the simulation rides throughout Disney and Universal Orlando. So much has changed. Here's a run down of my favorites. Hands down the new Pandora World at Animal Kingdom. They have you strapped to something resembling a banshee and the experience to match. Smells, water, wind and ALL. Quite the unique ride. We did Soarin first so that only sweetened the deal with Pandora. Harry Potter World...Five stars all around. The Dragon roller coaster flipped like 5 times or more and the castle tour broom riding simulation was loads of fun. We didn't get to experience Escape from Gringotts because the line was really long but did get to feel the heat of the fire breathing dragon. We took the Hogwarts express back and forth between parks and I used my newly purchased Dumbledore interactive wand to cast spells everywhere there was a marker. I was totally waiting in line behind children and adults of all ages to test my efficiency in wand skills.
Of course the remembered favorites Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, It's a Small World and all the sites of Epcot. New favorites Mt. Everest, Transformers and my absolute favorite...The Incredible Hulk. I'm so riding that like 5 times in row when I return. It went from 0 to 40 miles an hour in 2 seconds on an uphill ramp only to twist upside down like a snake as it shot straight out of the transformation tube. Then proceeded to flip 6 more times. The BEST. Overall it was an exciting trip. Brought back memories and solidified new ones. We might rethink our over zealous schedule next time so that we can experience more from each park but what we did pack in provided a whole lot of fun.
We rounded out the week with a quick trip to the beach. This was my non negotiable. If you go to Florida you have to see the ocean and at least put your feet in the water. Overall we had an amazing time even though there were a few obstacles to overcome. My Mom was already looking ahead to our next vacation. I'm just glad we made it through this one. Now time to rest:)
