Celery, Ginger, Lemon Juice Shots and Elixir
Finally!!!!! The sun is bright and the temperatures outside are on a steady rise. I'm quite sure this will make everyone feel a bit more jovial. I do love rain though and cooler temperatures, they are my go to favs but even this gal was starting to teeter on the edge of sunlight deprivation. Spring colors are simply therapeutic. Their journey into existence gifts us with a new set of codes, rich with a brighter perspective. Combine that with the medicinal properties of juicing and the healing power of creativity and I'd say you have one potent elixir.
This week's food story centers around these three supers making it a deliciously simple, beautifully bright, and creatively fulfilling adventure. Elixirs come in all forms and are not limited to the liquid variety. Anything that falls under transformative is a worthy contender. I certainly don't look at them as cure all's but more as a tool used to open to our true selves. Because let's face it, if we're constantly feeding our lives with a steady stream of nourishing elixirs then there's little chance we'll miss out on some of life's beautiful miracles. Continue below to read more about this week's food story adventure.
Here's what you'll need to get started...
The idea for this food story started with the all powerful Celery. I juice at home ever so often opting most days to grab one on the go due to Nashville's accessibility but when I started experiencing what I perceived to be a digestion/nutrient absorbent issue I decided to look into juice cleanses just to see what was available. I came across Anthony William the Medical Medium talking about the healing benefits of Celery Juice on Instagram one day. This triggered a memory from several years ago when I drank a juice base of Celery every week for over a year and remembered how my whole body system seemed to work agreeably. So instead of going the juice cleanse route, I started juicing Celery at home again but this time with a little Ginger and Lemon. I've been at it now for several weeks and I can truly say I feel a difference. My appetite has decreased desiring only small portions. I eat healthy anyway but large portions of healthy food can still take a hit on your gut if things aren't working properly. The only thing I watch out for is my blood pressure since it tends to run naturally low. From my research and inquiry Celery can help lower high blood pressure but since mine is already on the lower end of the spectrum I found I do better drinking a cup or two every other day. But this is my experience. Always consult your Doctor or Naturopath or other qualified provider if you have medical issues before starting anything holistic on your own. Holistic medicine is truly amazing but there's definitely a nuance to it's artistic offering. My Granny Hall owned a Health Food Store growing up so I know first hand the intricate nature of a healers role, watching her help others while navigating and integrating a whole body perspective.
One holistic tool though that you never need approval for is creativity. There's always an endless stream available at any time and always ready to heal. With this food story I decided to play with the wildly enriching colors of each individual ingredient through the use of my go to creative tool photography. From there inspiration birthed the Juice Shots idea. My Granny Hall used to feed us a Lemon Cayenne mix, sometimes combined with Olive Oil. Today juice shots of all kinds are available...Ginger, Wheat Grass, Turmeric. Some combine essential oils while others take on a more personal note. All in an effort to promote system balance. So by starting with a base of Celery, Ginger, or Lemon and adding in a pinch of Cayenne or Turmeric here or there the possibilities become endless. Mix and Match to your liking. Create moments of Delicious, Healing, and Color Happy FUN. Even with a tall order. Sit back and ENJOY. Happy Beautiful Juicing:)
