Smooth Protein Shake with Alkalizing Greens

Smooth Protein Shake with Alkalizing Greens | Seed Plant Water Grow

I'm back from vacation this past week and although I didn't completely over indulgence there were still moments aplenty where a little ice cream surely crept in, an occasional cocktail and even a little bit of those yummy season crusted fries(well...LOTS of those actually).  And not to mention the emotional exhaustion on the nervous system from an over ambitious schedule.  My Mom, Sister and Myself took a girls trip to Orlando to magically adventure through all the local themed parks, an endeavor we have not managed to pull off in over 30 years.  So you can imagine, 3 woman thrown together for 8 days, who mind you, are generally only used to a few days together max.  Now...I'm sure some of you might be wondering "why such a long span?" or maybe even "why?" in general.  And the answer to that question is a bit more involved but the short answer partly has to do with my Dad.  Due to his poor health over the past many years it became hard to travel for more than a few days.  So our adventures were limited to snatches of moments spread out across time.  I cherished all these moments but spending time in the short term versus the long is very different.  And everyone can attest to the narrative of loving family time but also acknowledging the difficulties that can arise when spending many days together.  Dad passed away in February so this vacation was a renewal of sorts.  A reintroduction to each other.  A new foundation for communicating and interacting going forward.  It was a tough, exciting, fun filled emotional roller coaster that at times bred frustration but overall yielded to a rewarding passage.  I'll be going more in depth about the intricacies of our journey in an upcoming Weekly Insight Series so stay tuned for more information.  I'll also be discussing some of my thoughts around the recent Hurricane devastation in Texas that hit the same day we came home.  A quick back story, in 2010 my own home was held captive in what came to be called Nashville's 1000 year flood.  My heart aches for everyone affected in Texas.  I know all too well the emotional rise and fall of navigating the days to come.  My prayers are surrounding each and every person.  Please offer your assistance if you have the means.

So you can see how an alkalizing detox food story might actually be an appropriate healing must for this coming week.  There's so much going on in the world beyond my sphere of change(past or present) but we're ALL connected.  And we're all in this together.  Each of our stories lean into the other so togetherness going forward is the only way to find peace.  Below you'll find the complete ingredient list and instructions for Smooth Protein Shake with Alkalizing Greens.  It's a total flexible recipe with interchangeable parts.  Basically a base start for your own health filled imagination.  Enjoy:)

Smooth Protein Shake with Alkalizing Greens

1/4 cup Organic Raw Cashews

1/2 cup Coconut Water

1 1/2 cup Ice

1 scoop Protein Powder(I used Spirutein by Natures Plus)

2 tbsp Organic Peanut Butter(or other nut butter of choice)

1 tsp Raw Cacao Powder

1 packet Amazing Grass Green Superfood Alkalizing and Detox

1/2 tsp Psyllium Whole Husks(i used Yerba Prima)

1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder

1/4 tsp Himalayan Salt(plus more for topping)

1 tsp Coconut Oil

20 drops Liquid No Alcohol Stevia

pinch Cayenne Pepper(plus more for topping)

Pretty much take every ingredient, toss into a high speed blender and blitz till smooth.  Mix and Match, Add and Subtract any part of this recipe to your own personal liking or just try this one straight up.  If you have super digestive issues with nuts, first soak the Cashews for 2 hours prior to blending.  This will help neutralize the offending irritant.  I did need to use a tamper(vitamix) to get everything moving.  Other then that, it's really quick, simple and delicious.  Top with more Himalayan Salt(love the taste combination), Cayenne(for added heat) and ENJOY:)
